APPLICATION PROCESS

Students wishing to apply to the I/O Ph.D. program will find details below on the application process.  If you have questions about any part of the process, please contact the Psychology Department Graduate Coordinator, Nancy O’Brien, at (765) 494-6067 or nobrien@psych.purdue.edu.

I. On-Line Application

Students should apply directly to the Graduate School, which has an automated on-line application system.  You will receive a PIN and password so that you can return multiple times until you have completed your application.  The on-line application includes the following sections:

1.      Application Blanks (contact information, work experience, education history, etc.)

2.      Statement of Purpose (uploaded file)

3.      Resume / Curriculum Vita (uploaded file)

4.      Letters of Recommendation (You will need 3 letters of recommendation.  Letters can be submitted on-line via the Graduate School application system or mailed directly to the Department of Psychological Sciences with the other materials below.  If letters are mailed directly, the following form should be printed and provided to letter writers: Recommendation for Admission. Be sure to complete the top portion of the form before giving to your letter writers.) 

5.      Application Fee ($55) – May be paid by credit card on-line or by check mailed to: Graduate School Admissions, Purdue University, 170 Young Hall, 302 Wood Street, West Lafayette IN 47907-2108, USA

II. Additional Materials

In addition to the materials submitted on-line, the following should be mailed directly to the department at the following address: Nancy O'Brien, Graduate Coordinator, Department of Psychological Sciences, Purdue University, 703 Third Street, West Lafayette, IN 47907-2081, USA

  1. Official Transcripts - two official/original copies of transcripts from all colleges and universities attended (the following form may be used to request transcripts from your registrar: Request for Transcripts)
  2. GRE Scores (Have official scores sent directly from ETS to Institution Code: R1631, Department Code: 2016)
  3. TOEFL Scores (Have scores sent directly from ETS to Institution Code: R1631, Department Code: 2016)
  4.  Letters of Recommendation (should be sent directly by your letter writers unless they are submitted with the on-line application)
  5. Anything else you want to add to your file (e.g. writing samples)
