Research Interests
I am fascinated with the way people interact with and influence each other on a daily basis. My main research focus has been on discovering the psychological and health-related effect of reliving or preliving social pain, especially as they compare to physical pain. In a related vein, I am interested in the impact of ostracism on the direction and magnitude of social influence. In this domain, I have examined the effects of partial and/or complete ostracism on persuasion, compliance, and worldview defense. Further, I am interested in mood and persuasion as well as emotional contagion.
