Here at the Purdue infant language labs, we ask the question of how young infants acquire their first words.  This includes how infants must discover the sounds of words, map meaning to those sounds, and learn the rules for combining words to to express new meanings.   Specifically work in the lab focuses on three main areas: from audiovisual integration, to word learning, to grammatical understanding.
