Examinations are of the short answer type. They cover all of the
lectures presented between examinations, including the lecture given just
before the examination. They also cover all text material assigned between
examinations. There will be no comprehensive final examination; the last
examination is only held during finals week for scheduling reasons. Each
examination will contain 10 short answer questions with two questions dealing
with the topic of each lecture. There will be no makeup examinations; a
student with a valid certified reason for missing an examination will be
excused from that examination and the grade will be earned according to
his'er performance on the remainder.
Examination Schedule:
1) 14 September
2) 5 October
3) 28 October
4) 18 November
5) Scheduled date for final examination
Grades in this course are not curved; the absolute level required to earn a grade is as follows: "A" = 80% to 100%; "B" = 65% to 80%; "C" = 50% to 65%; "D" = 35% to 50%; and "F" = 0% to 35%. The examination with the lowest score will be discarded before calculating the final grade. If you need to clarify the grading of your examination, please submit a written appeal to the instructor.
